Trangravshusene
A modern building among historic canals. A shading solution that lets in the light, frames the view and keeps the heat out.
Where Modern Performance Meets Historic Surroundings
With panoramic views over Trangraven and the canals of Christianshavn, Trangravshusene is a modern building set among historic surroundings. The ambition was straightforward: give tenants unobstructed views and a comfortable indoor climate all year round, while ensuring the building’s expression respects the architectural heritage of the neighbourhood.
The south-facing facades made solar shading essential. External solutions were ruled out as they would disrupt the clean aesthetic and block the very views the building was designed to frame. At the same time, conventional integrated shading often comes at the cost of natural light and transparency. The challenge was finding a solution that could deliver on all fronts without compromise.
The answer was found through close collaboration between the architects, Glaseksperten and FP Gruppen, who delivered and installed the glazing facades with MicroShade® integrated directly into the glass. As an almost invisible microstructure built into the pane itself, MicroShade® reflects solar radiation effectively while preserving full transparency, making it a natural fit for a building where aesthetics and views were non-negotiable.
MicroShade® ensures optimal room temperatures even in sun-exposed conditions, while maintaining plenty of natural daylight and a clear, unobstructed view to the outside at all times. By integrating the shading directly into the glass, Trangravshusene achieves modern performance standards while remaining a coherent and respectful addition to its historic surroundings. The solution also reduces energy consumption for cooling, requires no maintenance and takes up no additional space.
Client Testimonial
In their own words
“Our interior concept and product presentation are centered around the customer experience. The natural daylight and openviews definitely contribute to that positive impression, and withwindows facing south, we simply could not have achieved thatwithout finding a smart solution for the heat.”

Our Project Cases
Traditional blinds and screens require mechanical systems, power supplies, maintenance contracts and regular replacement. They block the view when closed and do nothing when open.
MicroShade® is integrated directly into the glazing unit. Passive, permanent and automatic, it works with the angle of the sun delivering shade in summer and allowing warmth through in winter. No moving parts. No intervention required.
No. Visible light transmission of 50-60% ensures interiors remain genuinely bright throughout the year. Unlike solar control glass, the microstructure blocks high-angle solar heat while allowing diffuse daylight to pass through freely.
Colour rendering above Ra 95 means natural light inside the building stays true to its source.
Yes. The product integrates into standard double or triple glazed units and is suitable for both new construction and retrofit projects. No mechanical systems, no wiring and no structural modifications are required.
There is no impact on the building exterior and no additional trades are needed beyond the glazing contractor already on the project.
The microstructure film sits protected inside the glazing cavity and is almost imperceptible to the naked eye, though the join between sheets is visible on close inspection. From the outside the facade looks clean and as designed.
From the inside the view out remains clear and unobstructed at all times. No tint, no visible pattern and no reduction in the quality of the outlook.
